On July 18th, Zyxel employees took a break from their professional lives to make a difference at the OC Food Bank in Garden Grove. In honor of our 35th company anniversary and celebrating our 9th year of community service in Orange County, Zyxel employees, along with their families, came together to do good deeds. The group split into two teams: one unsealed and stacked goods from pallets, while the other worked on the assembly line, packing boxes with cereals, peanut butter, pasta, canned goods, and more. These assembled boxes will support 25,500 low-income seniors monthly, distributed across over 70 sites in Orange County and surrounding areas.
The OC Food Bank
The OC Food Bank, a program of the Community Action Partnership of Orange County, unites communities to combat hunger and malnutrition. By partnering with over 300 local charities, soup kitchens, and community organizations, we provide essential support. Through donated food, USDA commodities purchased food, and the generous contributions of individuals, we assist nonprofit agencies serving low-income families and individuals. Annually, the food bank distributes over 23 million pounds of food.
A Day of Impact
Over 70 Zyxel employees participated in assembling food packages for low-income seniors. The Zyxel team successfully completed 31 pallets and 2,800 boxes. Steve Oberle, VP of Sales and founder of Day of Giving, remarked, "Every year, we look forward to giving back to the community. This just goes to show that our organization cares deeply. This year, as part of Zyxel's 35th global celebration and Zyxel's Anaheim 9th Day of Giving, we helped the OC Food Bank in Garden Grove. It was heartwarming to see families of our employees, from toddlers to Gen Zs, enthusiastically lend their time. It was a successful event, and I'm proud to be part of this organization."
Zyxel team members shared some of their reflections on this special day:
Sammy Tran, Coordinator, Sales and Marketing, "For my very first Day of Giving as a Zyxel employee, I had a great time bonding with coworkers and contributing to the local community. My favorite part was the lunch afterward where we got to try everyone's cooking."
Miguel Quintero, Senior Tech Support Specialist, "I love Zyxel's Day of Giving because it brings people together for a common goal, fostering empathy and understanding. It directly benefits the community, making our world better, one act of kindness at a time!"
Bethe Strickland, Senior Business Development Director, "I was so pleased for the opportunity to work alongside my colleagues, their families, and Zyxel’s executives to give back to Orange County and support the vital OC Food Bank. Packing food for seniors and others in need was a joy."
After volunteer work at the OC Food Bank, team members returned to the office for a lunch organized by the food committee. They set up a canopy, tables, and a grill in the Zyxel parking lot, making it a fun and rewarding day for everyone involved.
The event was a resounding success, showcasing the hard work and dedication of Zyxel employees. We can't wait for our 10th Day of Giving event next year!
After assembling and packaging the team went to the office for a delicious lunch prepared by the food committee.
